Thanks in part to major pop cultural events such as the ongoing Eras Tour by Taylor Swift, Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour, and the 10th anniversary of BTS, traveling to attend concerts has become wildly popular.

“Music tourism has emerged as a top travel trend due to its ability to create emotional connections, provide unique cultural experiences, offer memorable experiences, therapeutic and wellness benefits, and ... social media engagement,” writes Rick Perdian in Medium.

More music fans than ever before are travelling abroad to see concerts. In 2022, the global value of the music tourism market was $5.5 billion and is predicted to reach more than $11 billion by 2032.

More than half of Gen-Zers, 56%, and Millennials, 60%, plan to travel to a music festival in 2024.

We have the details about upcoming events, and some tips and tricks to have the best experience on your travels.

The biggest music events worldwide in 2024

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is easily the most significant music tourism attraction globally now. This moment is certainly Swift’s era.

The ongoing concert tour, featuring more than 150 shows in five continents, began in March last year and will end on December 8, in Vancouver Canada. Eras is the biggest tour ever, surpassing Elton John’s farewell tour.

Through June, you can catch Swift at multiple venues throughout the UK. She will head to Amsterdam in July.

Rap queen Nicki Minaj began her Pink Friday 2 World Tour of the U.S. and Europe this spring, following the release of her fifth studio album. The tour will commence in July with final stops in London, Switzerland and Belgium.

Usher, one of the most well-known performers in modern R&B, is on tour throughout the U.S. in 2024, ten years after his last tour. Usher showed he’s still got it during a heart pumping performance at The Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.

The Rolling Stones, the epitome of rock royalty, are touring North America from spring through July in celebration of their latest album, Hackney Diamonds.

Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, Ricky Martin – some of the biggest superstars of modern Latin dance music – are hitting stages across North America through 2024 for the Trilogy Tour.

Idles, a post-punk British rock fan favorite, is touring Europe, North America, Japan and Australia this year to belt out tunes from their new album Tangk.

Music lovers often travel to annual festivals for the chance to enjoy multiple artists in one place. Check out the lineups for these major festivals: Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, Essence Festival of Culture, Sziget Festival, and Rock in Rio.

Tips for an amazing travel and concert experience

  1. Don’t forget travel insurance. If you are going abroad, you should know that many U.S. health insurance policies won’t cover you overseas. An Allianz Travel Insurance plan with Emergency Medical benefits can help reimburse you for certain expenses in the event of a covered medical emergency. Our Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits can also reimburse your non-refundable expenses if your trip is cancelled or delayed for a covered reason, such as illness or dangerous weather.
  2. Book your hotel and your flight well ahead of the event. We can’t stress this enough. Waiting until the last minute can mean getting a room hours away from the concert, or not being able to book a flight that would get you to your destination in time.
  3. Check out the venue and the weather before you do your packing. Is there standing room only? Will the concert be outdoors? Be aware of these details so that you pack comfy clothes and shoes.
  4. If it’s a day-long outdoor festival with multiple stages, visit the venue’s website for info on what you can bring. A lightweight chair, water and other essentials would be great to have.
