Recently, it has come to our attention that email scammers have sent consumers fraudulent emails disguised as travel insurance confirmations. These emails purport to be a confirmation of a recent purchase of Allianz Travel Insurance and include a Microsoft Word document attachment which contains Malware (short for malicious software).
Please note, we do not send Microsoft Word documents as attachments to our emails. If you receive an email that appears to be from an Allianz address with a Microsoft Word document attached to it, do not open it. Delete the email immediately and call us at 800.284.8300.
We are closely monitoring this situation and are taking appropriate measures, including reporting this incident to the proper authorities. Please be assured that this fraudulent message was not sent from Allianz and is not specifically being sent to our customers. We also have not experienced a data breach or loss of customer data.
If you have recently purchased a travel insurance policy from Allianz Global Assistance and are concerned about the authenticity of an email you received, we suggest that you delete the email immediately and call us at 800.284.8300. We will be happy to send you a new confirmation by email or U.S. Mail.
